The Heart of Healthcare
Our mission is to help each senior reach and maintain their optimal level of functioning. At CNRC we strive to not only promote physical health, but to support each senior’s emotional, mental, and social well-being. We recognized the importance of ensuring the dignity of each senior we serve by offering person centered care that affords maximum independence and autonomy. We are committed to providing our residents with a home that is safe, secure, and welcoming.
We are thrilled to receive word that we can begin providing our nursing home patients and residents with a third dose of the Pfizer vaccine. Due to age, underlying conditions, or both, nursing home patients and residents are at greater risk of severe illness if they contract COVID-19. We expect this third dose will better protect our patients, residents and employees. We wanted to take a few moments to provide an overview of who is eligible.
1) In accordance with CDC guidelines, any patient or resident who is immunocompromised should receive a third dose of the Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, effective immediately. We are currently in the process of administering these third doses, which require patient, resident or family permission. If you have not yet provided signed consent, please contact us immediately so we can expedite the process.
2) The FDA and CDC now recommend that all nursing home residents should receive a COVID-19 booster if they originally received the vaccine more than six months ago. The overwhelming majority of our residents initially received the Pfizer vaccination. Clinics could be scheduled as early as this week for patients and residents to receive their third vaccine at the same time as their annual influenza vaccine. It is safe to administer both immunizations at the same time, per CDC guidelines. Note: Signed consent must be provided for both vaccines before we can administer them.
We highly recommend a COVID-19 booster if you or your loved one are eligible. It is the best protection against COVID-19. If you have any questions, please reach out to us immediately and we would be happy to discuss further.
About Choctaw Nursing and Rehabilitation
At CNRC our staff members are our greatest asset. We strive to partner with caregivers who have a servant’s heart. This is a passion that is evident in our daily interactions and it is the cornerstone of our facility’s commitment to providing superior senior care in Choctaw and the surrounding counties. Our resident’s enjoy engaging and energetic recreational programs including large group activities, special events, peer-led small groups, and individual activities. Choctaw Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is a 60 bed long term care facility with complete access to the resources of the main hospital. For more information, please call (662) 285-3257.
Physical Therapy
Physical therapy is aimed at pain relief and strengthening. It generally consists of three important phases: pain relief, strengthening, and functional integration. Our physical therapists tailor a treatment plan around specific movements designed to increase the patient’s strength, flexibility, balance, and overall mobility. The end result of physical therapy is living the life you want, free from painful limitations.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy helps patients live life to the fullest by promoting wellness and preventing injury, illness, or disability. The end goal of occupational therapy is to enable patients to be in an optimal environment that makes life easier. While occupational therapy can seem fairly similar to physical therapy, OT involves treatment to improve everyday activities or occupational duties. Daily living activities like bathing, using the restroom, getting dressed, eating, moving around, grooming, or sleeping, occupational therapy can help.
Speech Therapy
The overall objective of speech therapy is to optimize the patient’s ability to communicate and/or swallow, thereby improving quality of life. Speech therapists may use specific exercises to strengthen the muscles of the mouth and throat or cognitive exercises to help restore memory or improve sequencing and problem solving. Speech therapy is often prescribed after a stroke or for someone with progressive neurological conditions such as dementia. Speech therapy can also be useful in treating breathing problems associated with lung diseases. In general, speech therapy is helpful in addressing the decline sometimes associated with the aging process.
Restorative Program
Restorative nursing is the foundation of resident care within long-term care organizations. Restorative nursing is person-centered nursing care designed to improve or maintain the functional ability of residents, so they can achieve their highest level of well-being possible. It is a different way of looking at the care that is regularly given.
Psychiatry
Our Psychiatric program is managed by Crossroads Behavioral Health and designed to ease the stress and develop psychological assessments for individual treatment plans. Mental health plays a major role in the health of our patients as they transition to a new form of senior living care. Rest easy knowing your loved ones will be treated by our dedicated teams.
