Choctaw Regional Medical Center recently hosted a 2-day Palliative Care Symposium on the hospital campus.

On Wednesday, March 13, 2024, Dr. Sandy Lieu, a highly qualified family medicine practitioner and Clinic Medical Director at Choctaw Regional Medical Center in Ackerman, had the honor of serving as the Legislative Doctor of the Day at the Capitol.

Accompanying Dr. Lieu was Lauren Sumrall, a medical student from Lamar County, who is currently studying at the prestigious University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Medicine. Senator Bart Williams introduced them to the lawmakers at the Capitol.

This role is an essential one, as it ensures that highly trained medical professionals are always on hand to provide life-saving medical assistance in the event of an emergency. It is a great honor to be chosen to serve as the Legislative Doctor of the Day, and Dr. Lieu’s dedication to her profession and her commitment to serving the community are truly commendable.
