Choctaw Regional Medical Center Awards 2026 Nursing Education Scholarships

Choctaw Regional Medical Center is proud to announce the recipients of the 2026 CRMC Nursing Education Scholarship, an annual program designed to support individuals pursuing careers in healthcare and strengthening the future of medical care in Choctaw County.

This year’s scholarship recipients are Keeghan Ashford of Ackerman and Alexandria Hunt of Louisville, two individuals whose dedication to patient care, professional development, and community service reflects the mission and values of Choctaw Regional Medical Center.

The CRMC Nursing Education Scholarship is available to CRMC employees and Choctaw County residents who are furthering their education in healthcare. Through this program, the hospital invests in the next generation of healthcare professionals while supporting those who are already serving the community.

Keeghan Ashford, a 2022 graduate of Choctaw County High School, currently works as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Choctaw Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Following in her mother’s footsteps in the healthcare field, Ashford plans to continue her education at Holmes Community College, where she will pursue her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) degree.

Ashford hopes to continue advancing in nursing, with the long-term goal of becoming a Nurse Practitioner, thereby further expanding her ability to provide quality care and serve patients throughout the community.

Alexandria Hunt brings nearly 18 years of healthcare experience and has demonstrated a strong commitment to patient advocacy and compassionate care throughout her career.

Originally from Austin, Texas, Hunt moved to Louisville, Mississippi, in 2002. Her passion for nursing grew from personal experience caring for her son, who lives with epilepsy and other disabilities.

She began her healthcare career as a Certified Nursing Assistant in 2007 and later earned her Registered Medical Assistant certification from Kaplan University in 2017. In 2020, Hunt completed the East Mississippi Community College Practical Nursing Program, becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Today, Hunt serves as an Administrative LPN and Certified Skin, Wound, and Ostomy Wound Care Coordinator at Choctaw Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where she combines clinical knowledge with leadership and patient advocacy.

Investing in the Future of Healthcare

At Choctaw Regional Medical Center, supporting education and professional growth is an important part of strengthening healthcare across Choctaw County. By investing in individuals who are committed to serving their communities, the CRMC Nursing Education Scholarship helps ensure the region continues to benefit from skilled and compassionate caregivers.

“These recipients demonstrate dedication, compassion, and a strong commitment to continued learning,” said CRMC CEO Steve Marinelli. “We are proud to support their educational journeys and look forward to the positive impact they will continue to make in our healthcare community.”

Choctaw Regional Medical Center congratulates Keeghan Ashford and Alexandria Hunt on receiving the 2026 Nursing Education Scholarship and wishes them continued success as they advance their careers in healthcare.
